Ana Priscila Rodriguez

Ana Priscila Rodriguez was born in Mexico City in 1974. She went to Europe for love and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Utrecht (HKU) in 2006 with a specialty in Mixed Media and Photography with background studies in History and Graphic Design.

Her work is all about a long lost past; lost loves; lost faces. Images and sensations that are asking for a physical space in this present world. They are asking for colour, shape, texture, taste... they are asking for life. Her mission is to provide to these silent stories a voice and a body, allowing them to become a part of her present, visible world, and therefore, providing them from the opportunity to go on in real time, with a new shape and a new purpose. They become eloquent stories and fairytales.

She discovered the magic of old photographs left behind in flea markets, which she started collecting more than a decade ago and they soon became one of the most important sources of inspiration. She creates her own conceptual self portrait photography and she transforms those images using a variety of techniques until they lose their contextual shape.  For her, transformation is the real act of creating art. To be able to transform her reality into a magical realm where real life collides with dreams and nightmares, is what her work is all about.

In 2022 she was awarded at the European Photography Awards 2022 with  GOLD in the professional category of Fine Art Photography - photomanipulation for her work Oblivion from the series The Anatomy of Love.

In 2022 she was also commended for her series The Anatomy of Love by the prestigious Siena Creative Photo Awards.

In 2022 she was nominated by the 8th Fine Photography Awards for her series Limbo and Averno.

In 2022 she received a honorary mention for her work 'The Weight' from her series Burdens in the Dreams and Imaginings contest from Middlebury, Vermont.

Rodriguez is member of the prestigious Dutch Artist Association Pulchri.
